Scripture Passage: Romans 8:24-39
I often notice in conversations that people are waiting, and honestly, so am I. But I’ve found that the waiting gets easier when you know exactly what you’re waiting on.
Are you waiting for a better job? More money? The perfect spouse? The call from the doctor? A healing? The right opportunity, friend group, or even the “perfect” church? We often encourage others with, “Just wait,” but it helps when we get specific.
Here’s a few things that changed my perspective:
• God doesn’t rush.
• God’s promises are sure.
• Waiting can change us.
But here’s a key question we need to ask ourselves:
Are we waiting on what God has promised?
Or……, are we waiting on what we want?
Because there’s a difference. Waiting isn’t just about time passing; it’s about what’s happening IN that time.
- There’s growing in the waiting.
- There’s learning in the waiting.
- There’s maturing in the waiting.
God didn’t promise us a flawless husband, the dream career, a perfect family, a life without sickness, or a church that never lets us down. Those things may or may not come, and they certainly won’t be perfect. But what God has promised is sure.
And that’s what makes all the difference. When you wait on God’s promises - you’re waiting on something certain.
When you’re unsure of the outcome, waiting feels heavy and hopeless. But when you know you’re waiting on a God who cannot lie, whose plans are good, whose timing is perfect—it changes everything.
If our hope is in God’s promises—not in our preferences—waiting becomes purposeful instead of painful.
So let me encourage you:
Surrender to God.
• Trust His promises.
• Let go of your timeline.
• And wait well.
Because with God, the waiting is never wasted.
