Proverbs 14:1
Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.
When my boys were little they were obsessed with legos. I would always be amazed at what their creative minds could come up with! Rockets, cars, and even handmade pistols were some of their prized works of art. This verse often brings this memory to mind. You see, like the boys diligently worked building piece by piece their treasured toy of the day. We have a choice: do we make it our mission to build our homes? The Bible says a wise woman building her house. Piece by piece she constructs as small or seemingly insignificant as the day to day may be. Each time you whisper a prayer for your husband and child, you place a block, every time we grab our Bible and let His word transform us we are building! With every load of clothes washed, every swept floor, or gentle hug given, the construction continues. Ladies, your efforts are not in vain. Construction can be wearisome and requires dedication.
In contrast, the foolish woman plucketh her house down with her hands. I can not think of plucking without thinking of tweezers. If you have ever used tweezers you know that
it is not a pleasant experience often causing some type of pain. Plucking has the idea of ripping out. May we never tear out the blocks in our homes. As women, we were given the awesome responsibility of helpmeet to our husbands and nurturers to our children. Oh! What a gift this is! How kind the Lord is to allow us to be mothers and wives! Let us never take this for granted. Even when Satan whispers no one cares or your labors are in vain. Our families need hard hat wearing women. Let us put on those hard hats, throw out the tweezers and keep building!
