One Sunday morning, a young lady sat in an adult Sunday school class talking with her friends. The Pastor’s wife came in and said to her, “I need you to teach the two and three-year-old class today.” “I can’t teach,” she replied. But the Pastor’s wife was very determined and encouraging. She talked to the young lady and said, “You will do great.” Slowly, the girl went into the classroom, bowed her head, and prayed. It was at that moment that she realized she couldn’t, but God could.
Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” God opened the young lady's mouth and she shared a bible story with the kids. She could not believe the words that were coming from her mouth. She was very nervous, but God had used her! Through God, she began to fill in and teach when someone was out. Each time she was nervous, but God was with her. He led her because she faithfully read her Bible and prayed, looking to Him for help.
It was that day that God called her to teach. This was nearly 50 years ago and she is still teaching children to this day. This young lady was me. God had plans for me and has always been there with me. Are you being called by God to use your talents? Please answer, even if you think you can’t. Remember, God can! Psalm 12:2, “My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.”
