There’s a verse in Ephesians 5 that always makes women squirm a little: “Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord” (Ephesians 5:22 KJV).
It’s direct. It’s clear. And honestly? It rubs against every ounce of our flesh that wants control.
But here’s the thing… that’s exactly why we need the Word of God in front of us daily.
Because left to my own thoughts and feelings, I will default to pride, to “my way is better,” to building my life on emotions instead of truth.
When I’m in the Word daily, I’m reminded that God’s commands are not random… they are for my good and His glory. Submission in marriage is just one example of a bigger truth: choosing God’s way over my own in every area of life.
And that choice doesn’t come naturally. Philippians 2:14–15 tells us to “do all things without murmurings and disputings… that ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God… among whom ye shine as lights in the world.”
That means my attitude in my home matters just as much as my words. It means how I respond to my husband, my kids, or even my to do list can either shine His light or cast a shadow.
The same Word that shapes my role as a wife also shapes my role as a mom, a friend, a business owner, and a daughter of the King.
Daily Bible study keeps me anchored so I don’t get tossed around by culture, emotions, or my own stubborn will.
So whether marriage feels easy right now or heavy… whether motherhood feels sweet or like a full on wrestling match… open your Bible today. Let His Word shape your steps.
Because a woman anchored in Scripture is a woman who can weather anything and still shine.
